The soundtrack for Sunrise, Bates 141's Cambodian film project, has won Best Music at the 9th Bondi Short Film Festival in Sydney, Australia. The film was a nominee for Best Short Film.
Said Marianne Waller, Cambodia Managing Director and Executive Producer of the film, "the audience response to the film was just fantastic. It's a coup to get this far. The BSFF is probably the most famous of Australia's short film showcases and competition is massive."
"Sunrise" is a short film that the agency co-created with a group of 30 children from the Sunrise orphanage in Phnom Penh. The objective of this program was use the agency's expertise in film to offer the kids something different to try for a change – perhaps even give them ideas about alternative career paths once they leave school. Following this, one of the Sunrise boys has decided to go into the industry.
"The fact that just one young person, with so much hardship in his life, has been inspired to take a creative career path is exactly what we'd hoped for by doing this project," added Marianne. Watch the making of here.
